Ex-PM Manmohan Singh has said that the government was “obsessed with trying to fix blame on opponents” rather than finding solutions. His remarks come after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement. She said that the state-run banks had the “worst phase” under the combination of Singh and ex-RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.
Mr. Singh said, “When I was in the office what happened did happen. There were some weaknesses. But you can’t claim that the fault lies with the UPA always. You have been in office for five years. Mainly passing the buck to UPA is not enough.” He further said, “Economic slowdown, government’s apathy is affecting aspirations and future of Indians.”
