Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has been removed from the post of Nagpur Smart City CEO. Mahesh Morone has been appointed CEO in charge of Nagpur Smart City.

The Nagpur Smart City Board of Directors’ meeting lasted for more than three hours. Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, Mayor Sandeep Joshi, Collector, Commissioner of Police, NIT Chairman were present in this meeting. The meeting was held under tight police security.
The BJP raised many questions on the issue of smart city scam on Tukaram Munde. All these issues were discussed for more than three weeks. “Today’s meeting proved that Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe illegally grabbed the post of director and CEO of Smart City,” said Nagpur Mayor Sandeep Joshi after the meeting.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had complained directly with the Center alleging that Tukaram Mundhe had illegally usurped the post of Nagpur Smart City CEO. After that, BJP had shown readiness to go to court against Mundhe.
What exactly is in Nitin Gadkari’s letter?
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has written a letter to Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who is in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office, alleging that the behavior of Tukaram Mundhe, CEO of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited, was illegal, unconstitutional and fraudulent.
Gadkari has accused Tukaram Mundhe of illegally grabbing the post of CEO of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited as soon as he took over as Nagpur Municipal Commissioner.
Gadkari also claimed in the letter that Munde had decided to cancel the tender and terminate the contract workers in times like Corona.

“I joined as Municipal Commissioner on January 28, 2020. The Municipal Commissioner is the ex-officio director of Smart City (SPV). Ramnath Sonawane was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Smart City. He handed over his resignation to Pravin Singh Pardeshi Chairman on 11 February 2020.
The Chairman of Nagpur Smart City instructed me on mobile to take charge of the CEO of Smart City Nagpur. Accordingly and as per the ruling, I am holding the post till today. I have been carrying out the day-to-day work of the Smart City CEO. During this period, the tender of Transfer Station was canceled and the tender of Bio Mining was announced. This has been done in consultation with the Chairman while canceling the tender and announcing the tender for Bio Mining. The announced tender of Bio Mining has not been finalized yet. Both these matters are being taken up in the proposed meeting of the Board of Directors.
At the same time, some employees have been retired as per the Annual Performance Appraisal of the company. All the above matters are being placed in the proposed meeting of the Board of Directors.
Only one Running Bill has been issued during this period apart from the payment of office expenses and salary. This bill is for the work already done and the work done by them. There were no financial irregularities.
There has been no irregularity while working as CEO about this. The board meeting could not be held due to Corona’s circumstances. This meeting is proposed, ”said Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.
