Nagpur: Mayor Sandeep Joshi today (August 20) interacted with activists through Facebook Live on the occasion of his birthday. Answering a question posed by an activist, Sandeep Joshi announced that he will no longer contest the Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections (Nagpur Mayor Sandip Joshi announced that he will not participate in the Municipal elections).
“You have been elected as a corporator for the fourth time. Will you contest the elections again or will you give a chance to the common man to get elected? ”, Was the question asked by one of the activists to Sandeep Joshi during Facebook Live. Answering this question, Sandeep Joshi clarified that he will no longer contest the Municipal Corporation elections.
“The question is very real and genuine. It is not right for leaders to fight and activists to pick up the slack. You wished me a happy birthday and asked me this question too. So today, on my birthday, I am announcing in front of the camera that I will not contest the municipal elections after this. Whoever is the next worker after me, who is working hard for the party, that worker will fight for my place. I will do his job. But I will not contest any municipal election anymore, ”said Sandeep Joshi.
Commissioner Tukaram Mundhen was also targeted
Sandeep Joshi also targeted Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mudhe during Facebook Live. “If I am the head of the corporator or the assembly, then the municipal commissioner should listen to the suggestions. The House is a policy-making body. Strategic decisions are to be made by the House. So it has to be implemented by the administration or the commissioner. Unfortunately, this is not the case here. The people’s representatives say that it is wrong and I am the only one who is not doing it, ”said Sandeep Joshi.
“Tukaram Mundhe treats not only the ruling party but also the opposition,” said Sandeep Joshi. “Opposition leaders have to wait three hours for their visit. Corporators don’t get time “, said Sandeep Joshi.
‘I am not against Tukaram Mundhe’
“I am not against Tukaram Mundhe, I am against his policies. They did some good things, supported him. If some of their decisions are not accepted, I have the right to write a letter to them and give them instructions. But that doesn’t mean they are opposed. Will support good things. But, we will also oppose bad things, ”said Sandeep Joshi (Nagpur Mayor Sandip Joshi announced will not participate for Municipal elections).
“We will oppose the decision of the administration which we do not like. The most important reason behind this is that in a democracy we all have to face a test in front of the people every five years. The people decide whether we want to pass or fail the exam which is held every five years. Tukaram Mundhe came yesterday, will walk tomorrow. Apart from this, any commissioner leaves after one, two, or three years. We were born in this place, the people raised us, we will die in Nagpur. Therefore, there is no reason to oppose Tukaram Mundhe “, explained Sandeep Joshi.
